Some updates on the Stanford University project which Volkswagen is involved with. You remember that project, right? I wrote about it here. Anyway, they’ve had some progress on the project and it seems the car can now do slide parking like a badass. We’ve seen KITT done it. Now we’re seeing KITT’s coming. I won’t be surprised if someday somebody will bring all this separately developed technologies and put them all into one car. I’m hoping it will be a BMW.
I talked about the self-driving car that Audi was making before. It seems that Audi’s parent company, Volkswagen, also has their own similar project. This one involves the car parking itself. Wonderful.
Volkswagen has teamed up with Stanford University for this project and will definitely be worth tracking. In fact, if these separate projects for automating cars and driving become reality, I don’t see a need to teach my kids how to drive anymore. The skill will be obsolete. Then again… maybe not. What do you think?
Who here has ever wished to have their books, their entire libraries, even, within easy access from one device? Who here wishes they can do it on their own at minimal cost? Save trees. Save paper. Go green. All that sort of stuff and ideas.
I for one have dreamed of this but Daniel Reetz had done something about his dream. He actually went ahead and built one and he’s sharing this idea with the world at large. Wired has this piece on him and his work. It’s very interesting, which is the least I can say about the project, plus it’s cheap at around $300.00 (approximately Php 14,000.00) in total cost. Not bad for a home project, e?
Think about the advantages of having your entire library within one device or several devices: your laptop, your desktop, ebook reader, or even your mobile phone. Anytime, anywhere access to your book collection. Say goodbye to boredom on those long waits, like, at the airport. Of course, care has be taken into account here that you do not violate any copyrights.
I think I’ll build this device when I gain the space I want or when I retire. Whichever comes first. Check the video below about this device and why Mr. Reetz built it. His sentiments are almost the same as mine.
