Ola!

20090614-search.9Hello!  Welcome to my new, re-booted, blog!  Yeah, I know.  There was nothing wrong with my old one except I ran into some server technical and customer support issues.

To make the long story short, NetFirms.com deleted 10GB out of the 12GB of data that I had on their servers.  Before you go asking and clucking your tongues, yes, I have backups and backups of my data.  Yes, even my backups had backups.  But it was still easier for me to have them restore my data because with the way my home network is right now, it will take me 1.5 months, at least, to get everything back online.

Faced with the situation of their refusal to restore my data, I decided to move.  After 6 years of being their customer, I just packed up and moved.  Now I’m all done with my moving and the data is slowly being restored to the servers, I can blog again.

I’m not going to restore my old posts, unfortunately.  The past is past and I am moving on.  If you still feel the need to browse my old posts, let me know and I’ll email them to you.

Am I happy with my decision?  YES!  I’ve got more storage space.  A more advanced control panel.  A faster and more stable FTP experience (the old one just keeps timing out for no reason).  More control over how the site works.  Best of all, better, faster, more to-the-point service.  Trouble tickets or simple question tickets are answered within 12 to 14 hours.  Compared to 24 to 48 hours from NetFirms.com.

Where did I move to?  IXWebHosting.  You should seriously consider them if you’re looking for a host for your own website.
